Then, We Just Left Her There

We've been gone 27 hours and it seemed like 12. Our original intent, to take Lyn to school, leaving at 2am on Sunday, was vetoed because of the heat. The 4:00 pm weathermen in N'ville said there would be a 16 degree difference btwn Saturday and Sunday...they weren't kidding! So we hopped in the truck, the fully loaded truck, and hightailed it to Searcy. We got in about 9:30, and bless her! Joy let us in the dorm early! YEA! That was such a great relief, we'd been wondering about her stuff being out all night, it just worked out wonderfully. Scott visited with his dad and Faye; Lyn let me help her put things up till we both just decided to stop around midnight. When I left today, her room was in an uproar again, but we had done lots of the hanging stuff in the hall for her RA decor. Sort of an island party theme. When we left, she was about to start graffiti for all her girls.
So, we are home. It is so interesting that in your mind's eye, or at least in mine, that Searcy and Bon Aqua are opposite eachother on the map. But the heat today proved what is the real truth, Searcy is about 100 miles further south! When we got home tonight, the thermometer read 74, it was at least 94 in Searcy, if not more. Miserable heat. Hope Lymit will get used to it quickly.
The cat/dog has/have hidden Aaron's glasses. Deputy is a sucker for anything shiny. Scott once lost a trigger key or some handcuff keys for 6 months because of the cat's propensity to hide sparkles. He and the dog take turns carrying stuff off. So, now, we are on the hunt for hopefully unbroken glasses. I found my wallet under the couch once, 2 rooms away from my purse.
The phone rang.
I walked out to the den to give it to Scott and what was on the floor under the window but Aaron's glasses. And a very guilty looking cat.

  • And you just left her there...in Searcy...at Harding...where I spent the 4 most happy, carefree years of my life and would go back tomorrow if i had a chance! She'll be loving it I hope and she'll have Beckie to go to if she needs a "mother."

You just gave me one more reason why cats should live outside!
