Long time

Long time since my last post. Not too much going on. The name of the post is Knit one, Read two, so here's the latest.

Knit a sock for Lyn's trip to Africa. Notice, I said, a sock. I waited over 6 weeks to knit the next one. They are barely cousins - no where near twins, much less identical. But, since they are heavily patterned, tiny cables, and a solid color it isn't immediately apparent to the nonknitter. I don't feel too bad about it since I made up the pattern on the fly and then didn't write it down. There was only a ten stitch difference, but oh what a difference it made! As long as they keep her legs and feet warm during the African winter next summer, I will be a happy camper.

I'm currently reading about the Western Hemisphere pre Columbus. The name of the book is 1491 and if you like history, I can recommend it. It has enough humor and irony sprinkled amidst the dry factual stuff to keep it interesting and the revelations about the stuff we were taught in history class that just can't be true keep it a page turning eye-opener. 500 years from now there will be folks reading about global warming with the same shock.

I'm also reading Peter Tremayne's short story collection about the 7th century Irish nun/judge Sister Fidelma. I think I will have to pick up the full novels. She's a smart cookie and a strong woman. My kind of character.

More later if I can remember I have a post.
