I remember now

Ah, the joy of knitting.
Finished knitting an absolutely adorable bag to be felted with cute little black-faced white sheep grazing on verdant hills with a lovely blue sky. I took it to the washer to felt. 4 loads later - no felting. Also, lots of fade. Boiled it. That always works. No felting and green sheep and teal sky. phooey. don't know what I'll do with it now. Bought the suggested yarn, even in the suggested colors. Should have knit it from my stash!

I follow several blogs. Not all of the blogs I read are by people I know. Some are from people I know well, some are combination knitting-social commentary, a couple are religious-social commentary.

One blog I read is from a well known minister/author who traveled in some of the same circles I did at one time. We are not really friends, but have several mutual friends. Remember, I live in the Bible Belt! That isn't anything unusual here. It's like having a Kevin Bacon number of 1 with Johnny Cash or Wynonna. Around here, it just isn't that special.

So, anyway...I also read several different blogs by people who are atheist or agnostic. The really weird thing is, the preacher, who happens to be a cradle Democrat (his family is connected to influential circles)has been writing blogs recently which almost mirror the blogs of the atheist/agnostic blogs I follow. For some reason, this disturbs me on a deep level. Not that he is a Democrat; I came from a divided home and proudly wore the Big D myself for a long time into adulthood. No, what disturbs me is how closely he and the atheists align right now on who they are trashing, what they are supporting, how they are getting their message out, and how closely matched those messages are sounding. (I'd give you a couple of word by word comparisons, but I don't want these folks to be identifiable.)

After reading some of Ted Kennedy's memoirs which have been leaked in the last few days, I am glad he felt compelled to confess posthumously about Mary Jo, his drinking, and his other less than stellar activities. My estimation of him has risen and I hope his soul was cleansed. So many have refused to hear anything negative about him since his death, yet he was willing to bare it to all and bear it, too.

Well, it is tomorrow and I have lots to do today, so I must sleep.
