I have a flickr account!

If I am doing this right, by clicking on the title you will go to my account. Then you can see the birthday pictures. Sorry, Jennifer, I talked to your mom and dad instead of taking their picture!Maybe Mary took one of them. Too bad he or Lyn were not the ones behind the camera. See picture 0283 for the only identifiable Beth picture. Beckie is there in that one, too. Also look for her (Beckie) over Dr. Carr's head. You can't tell I was excited to see the Carrs in the picture. They were so sweet to me when I was in school. They were special to Bob as well. Can't believe they even remembered who I dated! Could be because they knew him from Gainesville.
I have recovered from the walking coma I've been in since arriving back home early Monday morning, but I still can fall asleep at the drop of a TV remote.
Back to the party. Approximately 165 people signed in, several people brought children and did not write their names, several came in the back door and did not sign in. We guest-i-mate there were around 200 people. Had it not been for Beckie, Betty, and, yes, Sue, I'd have cried. Those three - especially of course - Beckie - were the glue that held the day together. He was truly surprised, Fay missed it, and it all wound up working out. There were some sweet moments. One of the guests - 0282 - knew G'pa when they were kids. Called him Billy all evening. Some secret someone made him a beautiful walking stick. Several guests came from afar, Florida/Texas/points not Searcy...His namesake Rushton was there - that's Bear's son for those in the gunbelt loop.
All in all it was worth the small effort I personally made. I truly appreciate all the work others put in on his behalf. I especially appreciate my children - including my adopted-step-half- daughter -letting us bring the dog/leave the dog/walk the dog/listen to the dog and mom/run countless errands and be supportive in the meantime.
If I didn't do the title right, go to www.flickr.com and look for rushtonmom in the people section!

  • It was BIG fun. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat! The man who kept calling him Billy was George Tipps.

  • I LOVE the pics...it doesn't matter who takes them, it's that you have them and the memories of the day....My mom said it was very special to her and she isn't even related...I am very sure that it was AMAZING for him!!!

  • Great photos...Look like it was lots of fun. I wish Gene had smiled a little in that close up one of him. He looks like Santa when he smiles with that beautiful white beard...almost makes me jealous that Beckie gets to sleep with Santa evey night!
