I have a flickr account!

If I am doing this right, by clicking on the title you will go to my account. Then you can see the birthday pictures. Sorry, Jennifer, I talked to your mom and dad instead of taking their picture!Maybe Mary took one of them. Too bad he or Lyn were not the ones behind the camera. See picture 0283 for the only identifiable Beth picture. Beckie is there in that one, too. Also look for her (Beckie) over Dr. Carr's head. You can't tell I was excited to see the Carrs in the picture. They were so sweet to me when I was in school. They were special to Bob as well. Can't believe they even remembered who I dated! Could be because they knew him from Gainesville.
I have recovered from the walking coma I've been in since arriving back home early Monday morning, but I still can fall asleep at the drop of a TV remote.
Back to the party. Approximately 165 people signed in, several people brought children and did not write their names, several came in the back door and did not sign in. We guest-i-mate there were around 200 people. Had it not been for Beckie, Betty, and, yes, Sue, I'd have cried. Those three - especially of course - Beckie - were the glue that held the day together. He was truly surprised, Fay missed it, and it all wound up working out. There were some sweet moments. One of the guests - 0282 - knew G'pa when they were kids. Called him Billy all evening. Some secret someone made him a beautiful walking stick. Several guests came from afar, Florida/Texas/points not Searcy...His namesake Rushton was there - that's Bear's son for those in the gunbelt loop.
All in all it was worth the small effort I personally made. I truly appreciate all the work others put in on his behalf. I especially appreciate my children - including my adopted-step-half- daughter -letting us bring the dog/leave the dog/walk the dog/listen to the dog and mom/run countless errands and be supportive in the meantime.
If I didn't do the title right, go to www.flickr.com and look for rushtonmom in the people section!

Were you ever here?

What can you say to that?

That long ago? What have I been doing?

Knitting! In the last two weeks, I've knit a new afghan for the NICU at the hospital, a special secret project, and most of an afghan for a soon to be married couple at church. I wouldn't say I am a prolific knitter, nor am I a speedy knitter, but I am driven to complete projects in a timely manner. I usually have two on needles at the same time, but the reason I was able to complete these quickly was because of my mind staying on one track for once.

I've so enjoyed my knitters groups. We are up to about eight in our after school group; we just get together to knit and gab - we're the Stitchin' Witches. My group of learning ladies is up to four and they are all wonderful. Cathy, our muse, had her knee surgery Thursday, so we didn't meet, but she is hoping to be feeling well enough next week to have us all again. I'm not planning on converting anytime soon, but these Lutheran women are great!

One reason I've had so much time to knit is because Scott has worked the last 4 weeks with only 3 days off. He will have his regular four days off at the end of this week and we are both ready. Bless his heart, he is about frazzled. Besides just the regular stresses of work, he's had to be a patrolman this week and last week had to manage the range for all the officers requalifing practice. He'll have to do the requalifications for all of them in two weeks. I can't imagine being on a gun range with 15 - 20 people being less stressful, but he says it is. Besides that, politics continue to be very much the small town variety.

Not much to tell other than that. We finally got some rain this weekend. It started Friday and it rains in fits and starts, never more than a few minutes at best, but two or three times a day. We'd gone 3 1/2 months with no rain, so I guess this way is the best. Most of our driveway survived this time. The forecast promises rain somewhere in the area until Wednesday. I hope they know what they are talking about! We're very thankful for what we've gotten, but we wouldn't be opposed to a few more days of this! Over a month ago one of the local weathermen commented that all the rain they've gotten out west would barely get us back to normal. His opinion is, until we see Noah, bring it on!

For those of you in the know, I'll see you, you know where and you know when - or actually, probably Friday night - unless we are late and crash on an unsuspecting child's couch!
